RWA Tanzania: Metal Storage Crib has Assured Storage Safety and Food Quality

Juliana Mwashiuya, a woman of 52 years old woman with seven children resident of Songwe region, Mbozi District (Hasamba Village) in the southern highlands of Tanzania. She started to use metal crib technology in a whole Hasamba village – Mbozi district to store maize which is less harmful and safe. Before this technology Juliana stored maize in sacks after spraying atelic insecticide to protect her maize which was not safe for health like what other community members are doing, but after receiving the training on food safety from extension officer in Mbozi district then she decided to adopt this technology in order to protect herself and her family.

This technology not only helped her family but it also became a convenient solution for other community members who are using atelic insecticide to protect maize because other members are learning from her and she is willing and able to support them.

“I urge my fellow farmers to adopt and buy this metal crib instead of using polythene bags or sisal bags for safety” Juliana Mwashiuya commented.
